Parish Retreat:  April 4-6, 2025

A number of weeks ago in one of these emails I announced that we as a St. David’s community have the opportunity for a weekend away as a parish retreat the weekend of April 4-6, 2025.

This past February the Vestry and I went on retreat to the DeKoven Center in Racine, Wisconsin. We had a fantastic time (please ask any Vestry member!). It’s a beautiful setting right on Lake Michigan, and the food was great! The grounds have served a number of different purposes over the years, including being an Episcopal College and an Episcopal Convent. It currently is available as an event space (think weddings) as well as a retreat center.

I know it’s far off in the distance, but I hope that you can join us this coming April 4-6 for a weekend away at the DeKoven Center. If you’ve never been on retreat, don’t worry, it’s nothing scary! There will be opportunities for prayer and reflection, and plenty of free time simply to explore the grounds, walk along the lake, read, or even take a nap or two!

Please click on the following link and fill out the survey letting us know whether or not you can join St. David’s parish community for this opportunity to disconnect from the cares and concerns of the world, relax, and connect with God and each other. https://forms.gle/kFUSfEGtbWgW2rh78.

If filling out forms isn’t your thing, then please simply email the office office@stdavidsglenview.org letting us know that you plan to attend, and drop off or mail in a $100 deposit (with “Retreat” on the memo line) before October 1st. The total cost for the retreat (including two nights lodging, dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday) is $280 per person. Financial assistance is available, if interested please let me know, rector@stdavidsglenview.org.

This Sunday!

I also wanted to make sure you were aware that this Sunday our Youth Sunday School program is beginning at its new time of 9:00-9:45 AM. They will meet upstairs in the Education Wing (where the Parish Offices are). Youth ages 3 through high school are all welcome to join together in our “one room school house” Sunday School. If you have any questions please reach out to Mary Beth Darr mbdarr78@gmail.com.

Finally, one last reminder: we have two visits from some of our ministry partners. First up is this Sunday, September 8th we will welcome the Chaplain of Holy Family Ministries, Leslie Hunter. Then, on Sunday September 22nd The Rev. Tommy Rogers will join us. I hope that you’ll join us and learn about the important ministry that is being done and how we can help!

Peace,

Fr Adler+

p.s. Thank you so much to everyone who filled out the Parish Wide Survey! If you haven’t yet filled it out, this is your last chance to do so! Please submit your responses by Sunday evening. Here is the link: https://forms.gle/phNvjEWm1q3Sz1Nb7
