Rector’s Message 1.23.25

Yes, it’s cold, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of opportunities to get out of the house throughout the next month or so.

First off there is chance to do volunteer at Feed My Starving Children this Saturday. Then on February 2nd, the feast of Candlemas, all are invited to a quiet service of chanted Compline in the Chapel at 4 pm with light refreshments afterwards in the Library.

The monthly men’s gathering of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew meets on Saturday 2/8 at 9 am in the Library. And on Super Bowl Sunday, 2/9, following the 10 am service the Annual Parish Meeting will take place.

Later on in the month there is social gathering for the Women’s Group on 2/19, and then on Sunday 2/23, following the 10 am service there is another service opportunity for all in the parish to help provide Birthday Bags to the Northfield Township Food Pantry.

I hope you all are staying warm!

See you in Church!

Peace,

Fr Adler+

“Dominion” Extra Credit

Last week was a big chapter, covering the events of what we popularly refer to as “The Reformation.” I mentioned in our class that there is a fascinating museum in Frankenhausen, the site of the Peasant Revolt where the peasants were brutally put down.

Here is a link to the museum’s official webpage: https://www.panorama-museum.de/en/monumentalpainting.html

Here is very short (and somewhat shaky) video from the travel guide Rick Steves that gives you an idea of what it looks like from the inside of the museum: https://youtu.be/7U6AMiW-Yt4?si=A03DnmzHxjryxOC_
