Blocktoberfest. Potluck Success! “Dominion” Church History.

First: a reminder that this Saturday is Glenview’s “Blocktoberfest” street festival. St. David’s is hosting a booth at the Kids’ Zone from 11-4 on Church Street. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to man the table, and a big thanks to Melissa Rose for helping organize all of this! It should be a beautiful day to spend outside meeting and greeting our neighbors. Hope to see you there!

Next: A big thank you to everyone who attended the annual Kick Off Sunday! We had a great turnout, and it was lovely to catch up and enjoy one another’s company at the potluck. Our next big fellowship with food event will be the reception following the All Souls’ Requiem on Sunday November 3rd, at 4 pm.

Lastly, a reminder that this Sunday the Adult Education series focusing on Church History will kick off at 9 am in the Parish Library. This Sunday is simply an introducition and the following week we will begin to cover chapter one in the Tom Holland book “Dominion: How the Christian Revolution Remade the World.”

I know not everyone can make it at that time, and I also know that not everyone can make it every week. But I do hope that you’ll join us in reading through this very readable and engaging book that takes us through the past 2,000 years or so. I truly believe you’ll enjoy it!

In case you’re not able to join us every week, here is the schedule for the first few weeks this fall:

9/29 - Ch. 1: Athens

10/6 - Ch. 2: Jerusalem

10/13 - Ch. 3: Mission

10/20 - Ch. 4: Belief

10/27 - Ch. 5: Charity

11/3 - Ch. 6: Heaven

11/10 - Ch. 7: Exodus

Once again, there is no bulk order discount for this book, so you are more than welcome to purchase your copy wherever you prefer to do so. It is available in hardback, paperback, Ebook/Kindle, and audio book. If you’d like the Church to purchase you a copy, please let the Office know. Cost is approx. $15 for paperback and $22 for hardcover.

I hope you all are doing well and I look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday and Sunday!

Peace,

Fr Adler+
