Fellowship & Adult Ed Opportunities

Knitwits Needlework Guild

Needleworkers gather weekly to craft items for outreach ministries or for gifts. Seamen’s Church Institute is the recipient of some of the knitting of hats and scarves for merchant mariners. Other handcrafted items find their way to ReVive or Night Ministries — both Chicago-based ministries to the housing insecure. Experts and novices are welcome; fellowship, laughter (and tutoring) abound.

Luigi’s Spaghetti Dinner

Billed as “the best pasta on the northshore,” Luigi’s has been a traditional fundraiser at St. David’s for literally decades. Held on a Sunday night early in March, the proceeds from this event benefit some outreach project — most recently, our youth mission trip. The whole congregation gets involved in set-up, cooking, ticket sales, and more.

Coffee Hour

It’s the 8th Sacrament in most Episcopal Churches, and St. David’s is exception. Following the 9:30 service, we gather in our lower level (we call it the Undercroft) for refreshments and conversation.

Adult Forum

While our children and youth are in Church School, adults are encouraged to join the Forum discussion and fellowship. We alternate weekly between discussion groups or speakers and a fellowship coffee hour. Attendees at either Sunday services are encouraged to come to the Forum/Fellowship time.

Bible Study

We currently offer two Bible Studies, one at 7:30 pm Monday Nights in the Library and one at 11 am on Tuesdays. These are led by the clergy no question is ever offlimits. Open to all. Come as you can.

Potlucks and more!

St. David’s is filled with people who like to cook and who like to eat. We gather regularly for fellowship events like the Halloween Party, Friendsgiving (the Sunday before Thanksgiving), Party Heart-y (near Valentine’s Day), the Progressive Dinner each fall, and so much more.

Book Group

A small group that reads various book selections and meets the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM in the church library.

Men’s Fellowship

A weekly fellowship gathering open to all men of the parish with discussion, audio or video tapes geared toward assisting the men of St. David's in becoming better Christians, husbands and fathers. One hour meetings are held each Saturday morning at 8:00 AM.

New Horizons

A fellowship group for people who are retired or planning retirement. Meetings are held the fourth Thursday of each month, with various outside activities planned to restaurants and cultural/ educational locations.

Book Study Group

Small groups form around the study of a particular book related to a religious or spiritual subject. These are “pop up” groups that form, gather, discuss, bond, support, and share faith together. Once completed, that group dissolves and new ones form. This keeps participation fluid and takes into consideration the busy schedules St. David’s parishioners have.
